What does the Tour de France have to do with healing trauma?

Determination.  Commitment.  Endurance.  Focus.  Concentration.

That’s what it takes to ride the 2241 miles through mountain after mountain over three weeks to even get through the Tour de France, the premier cycling event that starts this Saturday.

Determination.  Commitment.  Endurance.  Focus.  Concentration.

That’s what it takes to train our minds, hearts, bodies to heal trauma.  It’s every day, year after year, through numbing pain, crushing shame, horrendous rejection as we begin to lay down new internal pathways in our quest to feel solid inside, confident, reduce the symptoms that plague us daily.

We can learn from peak athletes such as Lance Armstrong.  It’s what I told a client yesterday.  Lance is training to change one second of his time, to perform incrementally better.  We’re looking for small, incremental change as well.

It’s going to be the subject of my ezine this month, coming out within the week, just in time to get you all watching The Tour de France for inspiration and motivation.    Televised in the USA on Versus, the sports channel, you can also see it online at  versus.com or on the official Tour de France website.
