Leading with your heart, supported by your skill, healing of those you serve

Leading with your heart, supported by your skill, healing of those you serve

Over the past twenty plus years of teaching the Becoming Safely Embodied Skills I’ve seen these practical, concrete skills make enormous differences in healing people’s trauma histories.

As Janina Fisher said when she sent her clients to the group, “they get better faster.”  She saw such remarkable changes that she asked me to teach her the skills – and then taught groups with me for a number of years.

Yesterday one of my earliest mentors told me that the BSE skills are making a significant contribution to the therapy she is doing with one of her most complicated clients.  What a gift to hear that from someone who has made a big difference in my life.

As the Becoming Safely Embodied Skills Manual was available, individual clients would buy it and work the skills on their own.  Therapists around the world would use the skills with their clients, helping them to organize their disorganized inner worlds between sessions.

A group has been running in the Kaiser Permanente system for well over 12 years and recently received a “prize” for community service.  A clinic in Chicago consistently runs BSE groups for men and women.  It’s one of their cornerstone programs.  Rape crisis centers have written me from around the world, grateful for the skills that their clients have put into practice.

Sometimes I am still astounded that these simple skills that helped me put my life back together when my own history came up would make a difference in other people’s lives.

Consultation

Every workshop I give people ask me for consultation. The painful truth now is that I don’t have the time that I used to have.

That bumps right up against my wish in help people to escape from the trap trauma puts people in.  Returning from my recent trip to the UK, I realized I had to find a way to help!

So I asked.  And heard from hundreds of people who responded to an email I wrote asking what do they need help with.  I was flooded by responses from professionals and non-professionals alike.  People need help!

At the same time, I know from my own clients how hard it is to remember to stick to the fundamentals when we’re caught in a trauma cycle.  The crazy thing is, though, that the fundamentals are what keep us steady, building a solid inner self.

I know what it’s like to work with clients caught in the maze of their own inner worlds.  It’s hard at times.  Which is why we all need support.  We need colleagues who are working in the same integrative way to put body, mind, and heart back together again.  In my experience that comes with knowing how attachment, trauma, and the body combine together to build a solid, secure inner self.

That’s what’s critical: building a Self so you can choose who you want to be, and how you want to be with whatever happens.  This really has become the basis of my work.  Building a Solid, Steady, Secure Inner Self.

Putting all that together for you

One of the things I love the most is helping professionals access their own wisdom refined through the lenses of attachment, trauma, and body therapies.  So the PCCP would be about putting the important structure of attachment healing right into our experience together.

Two things I want to highlight:

Helping you access your own wisdom. That’s key.  And it’s one of the profound things that come when we understand attachment theory from the inside.  Attachment is the language of early connections.  Trauma is the experience of those connections broken.  What I know and trust is that you know, inside you.  My job as a mentor, guide, consultant, coach is to help you access that innate wisdom for the benefit of all you serve.

Refined through the lenses of attachment, trauma, and body therapies. Those are the clinical components that will shape our conversations.  As you know my training in these areas is extensive (glad to give you a copy of my CV!)  What I want to do is give you access to my storehouse of knowledge as you explore putting these theories into practical experience in your sessions with people you work with.

Given that this would be an online program rather than the live trainings I offer, I want to have your input in how best to shape Professional Certification and Consultation Program (PCCP).

This is important to me.  Knowing what you want and need helps me shape what I provide so you get your professional needs met.

Here’s what I have in mind

Since we’re using the Becoming Safely Embodied Skills as the foundation, you’ll get access to that online course as I run it in the next couple months.

  • That’s a $597 part of the course.
  • You’ll also get a copy of the BSE manual ($56).
  • In the BSE course you’ll see how I teach the skills and the BSE Mentors, use the skills in their lives.  You’ll hear professionals and non-professionals talking about everyday life experiences and how the skills work.  That will give you immeasurable support in dealing with your own clients.
  • One of the huge side benefits I’ve learned doing any of my courses is how the attachment presence is a “previous gift” accelerating the benefits of the skills.  In the course, and the PCCP you’ll see how that’s done, and practice doing the same with each other and in your practice.
  • Integration of attachment theory, trauma treatment, parts work, body therapies, and yogic psychology.
  • You’ll have six months of once a month group consultation
  • Group office hours each month.
  • Collaborative community of professionals committed to finding powerful, simple, concrete ways to cultivate a Solid, Steady, Secure Inner Self.  As collaboration is one of the key components of a secure attachment I wanted to build that into the PCCP.
  • Private, online meeting space (not Facebook!) that I’m testing for people to join together.
  • Support in marketing yourself, your practice, and BSE groups you want to run.
  • Listing on my website which gives you access to tens of thousands of people a month, leading to referrals.
  • Certificate of completion to teach the BSE skills in groups and with individuals.
  • Practices of all kinds to keep you grounded, centered, supported, and encouraged.
  • “Excellent tips and insightful moments” (as a previous participant said!) to enrich your understanding of the integration of attachment theory in healing
  • Taking theory into the body
  • Self-Compassion Retreat [recorded three hour retreat with Deirdre; $197 value]

How does this sound?  Does it resonate with you?

I’d love to hear!  Email me so I can learn from you about what you’re looking for, interested in, and how I can best help you.  Let’s see if this would be a good fit for both of us.

Sending goodness,

Deirdre
