Video Practice Learned from Amy Weintraub and LifeForce Yoga

As one of my clients says, “I need my own cheering squad…!!!!”

Truth is, we all do.  So here’s the cheer for you!  Cheers for every single one of you from the LifeForce Yoga group I trained with in Tucson, Arizona at the LifeForce Yoga Practitioner Training that Amy Weintraub puts on (that’s her in the turquoise tank top in the video)  I asked the training group if they’d be willing to cheer you on — and they did!   My editing skills made it difficult to edit it down to just the cheer…… sorry 🙁

But that’s only the tip of the iceberg of what I learned – or what Amy has to teach us

(A good resource is Amy’s book Yoga for Depression or any of her CDs.)

A number of people asked me why I was there?  And did I learn anything?  Good questions, after all I did live and practice a yogic lifestyle at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health for over six years in the 80s and 90s.

I felt it was necessary for me to uplevel what I knew and I knew Amy (who I knew “back in the day”) would be the one to teach me and therefore help you.  Amy’s interest is  in combining research with using yoga to manage mood.

While there I asked Amy to put together a video.  She suggested I do the video with one of LifeForce Yoga’s senior practitioners, Ann Friedenheim who is both a yoga teacher and psychotherapist.

Here’s only a tiny bit of what I learned in the three-part LifeForce Yoga Energizing Chakra Clearing practice.

There are three parts to the larger chakra clearing practice:

1.  Bellows Bastrika Breath to get you moving and bring some energy to the body

2.  Bramani (“Bee”) Breath which I found incredible when I felt a little overstimulated and needed time to slow down, close the gates and have a mini internal retreat

3. Chakra Clearing practice.  The one in the video is an energizing practice which Ann describes.

Try one of the parts of the practice or the whole thing.  I’ll be very curious to hear about your feedback and experiences.

What kinds of breathing exercises do you do?  Do you find them helpful?

As always, I’m glad to be there to support you in nurturing your heart and your life,

Deirdre
