18 Sep What is your “greatness?”
My colleague, Karma Kitaj, wrote about greatness. I enjoyed her message and wanted to pass it on to you.
“Genius is self-bestowed and mediocrity is self inflicted” wrote Walter Russell.
Visionary coach and neuroscientist Joan C. King, refers to that quote on her website. She said:
“The energy that keeps us alive, which I call the life force, has within it the wisdom of all of the ages.”
She believes that this life force bestows greatness on all of us. It’s up to each of us to open ourselves to possibility so that we can actualize that greatness.
What a compelling statement. So empowering to note that we all have genius, we all have greatness within, whereas when we are mediocre, it is a choice, one we have the power to change. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit it, but unlike many people, I always had the idea that I had the seeds of greatness inside of me and I just had to learn how to express it in such a way that the world would know. In my saner moments, I thought of that as being a bit of self-aggrandizement.
My actions and accomplishments were (still are) not great, hardly genius, but I have maintained that inner knowledge that my “life force” is capable of such. In recent years, I’ve reached a different idea of greatness from what I fantasized about in my youth. Now, I see it as having to do with my expressing what I value most, i.e, continued learning, growing, experimenting, experiencing and making the fruits of that available to those around me.
What is your “greatness?” How can you open to possibility to make more of that greatness visible?
