31 Dec Completing This Year. Reaching for Next Year.
It’s that time. The calendar changes offering us a period of reflection, exploring who we want to be in the next year. Being able to explore and reach are key indicators of earning secure, solid ground inside ourselves. For those people with difficult histories, lives, it’s important to actively cultivate the body-heart-mind’s impulse to reach.
To do that we need to be familiar with – and anticipate – the turbulence that arises whenever we step outside our comfort zone.
I’m doing the same sorting out last year, sitting in inquiry. I’ve put together some of my questions to cultivate an inquiry and establish some intentions. Join me in the process….and add your own questions, inquiry, contemplation……
Completing This Year
- What did I do or who was I last year that I feel good about?
- What would I have liked to do differently?
- Given a safe, compassionate environment, mistakes can arise as wisdom instead of things to beat ourselves up for. What “mistakes” have the seeds of learning, or wisdom embedded in them?
Reaching for Next Year
- What is calling to me?
- Who do I want to be? What about when I’m confronted with difficult life experiences….. who do I want to be then?
- What will help me keep a steady course? Do I know what kinds of turbulence I’ll encounter?
What about you?
What are your intentions for next year? What are you ready to let go of from this year? What wisdom has come from mistakes and the like in your life?
