20 Nov I’m Still Practicing After All These Years
I’m loving being with the people on the Embodied Practices whose dedication and commitment to themselves inspires me. I wrote them all the following note and thought I’d share it with you as well.
Many of you have been surprised that I still use these very practices. I want to assure you I do!
This morning was a good example. I didn’t know if it was the tea I had had or if it was the stars in the sky colliding but for some reason I was anxious and internally tense.
When I noticed it – finally – I stopped.
Felt where in my body the tension was.
Realized my breath had contracted up in my diaphragm. I was actually a bit surprised. A lightbulb went off! I know what to do.
I spent a few minutes contacting the tension spot, breathing into it, releasing it deeper down into my body, anchoring it below my navel. Felt centered and more grounded. Realized I needed to pay attention to that during the day, slowing down my breathing, relaxing my belly.
It’s a living practice,, unfolding every day.
