25 Dec [Article] Walking Through The Shadows Learning To Trust
Sitting watching the sun rise this morning I sat with the glorious changes that came as the sun reflected off the mountains in the distance, feeling my heart swell with gratitude for this simple, daily extravaganza.
I don’t always get to see this natural explosion of beauty from my house in Boston where the multiplicity of buildings crowd out the vantage points to nature.
Our inner journey sometimes feels the same. We don’t see the beauty, the love that surrounds us as we walk through the valley of the shadows.
Many of you have shared your lives with me this past year, sharing the grief, the sorrow, the misery as well as the triumphs, the pleasures, the deepening that has occurred.
Sharing your life has been a gift.
Over and over again, I have been graced to walk with you through the valley of the shadows, walking with you as you learned to trust and receive the beauty of your own heart.
For many of you it has been a lonely journey, filled with doubt that anyone would understand or even have a similar experience.
This morning, watching the sun glow and illuminate through its reflection I felt the gift of walking with you through these shadows, through life.
One of my prayers for 2013 is to find ways for you to feel less alone in this journey through life. I feel the determination to find simple, easy, concrete ways to support this essential shift of living from the outside in, orienting instead to living from the inside out, from your gorgeous heart of love that glows constantly underneath the painful crust of life.
Since we often only meet our own heart through its reflection in the world may we all purify our hearts, finding ways to cleanse the pain, bringing room for joy, satisfaction, contentment and ease.
Wishing you all the love and kindness you need and want in the coming year.
