This ratio, discovered by John Gottman in his couple’s lab research is important for all of us whether we’re in relationships or not.
Gottman discovered that couples that stay together and thrive have a 5:1 ratio. For every negative thing that happens they have a buffer zone of 5 good things.

Let’s apply this to healing. If you say one critical thing to yourself, so you then appreciate the 5 good things you do? Or are you, like so many of us, that keep piling on the negativity.
Learning to offer ourselves this critical buffer zone, cultivating it, enhancing it, protecting it can be one of the primary and SIMPLE ways to support your healing.
